Alterations process

Firstly...Many congratulations on your forthcoming wedding and thank you for popping  by to my page. Hopefully I can put your mind at ease when booking your alterations with me and another thing will be  ticked off your never ending to do list.

I like to book my brides in at least 6 weeks before your wedding date and pick up your dress the week before your wedding  date. This may seem a bit tight schedule wise, but it's plenty of time for me to adjust your dress for the perfect fit...brides tend to lose a bit of weight just before their wedding, and I wouldn't want you to take your dress too early for this reason.

Your first step would be to book your first fitting appointment with me. This can be Tuesday to Saturday at a convenient time at my shop in Hurstpierpoint.

First fitting

At your first fitting please bring with you, your dress, shoes and any underwear/shapewear you plan on wearing. We will discuss the alterations needed and your dress will be pinned, ready for me to start work on your dress.

If your dress needs quite a lot of work to the bodice I won't be looking at the length until your second fitting until I know the bodice fits perfectly as this can affect the length of your dress. Once pinned and alterations have been discussed I will book you in for your second fitting. Please allow up to 45 minutes for this appointment.

Second fitting

At your second fitting we will try your dress on and check the fit of the bodice and any other alterations that have been done to the top of the dress...at this point no excess fabric will have been taken away from the inside of the dress and it will look unfinished. Please don't worry, this is part of the process.

Next step at your second fitting would be to check the hems, so please try not to forget your shoes. Hems will be pinned and measured and I will book you in for your third fitting. Please allow up to an hour for this fitting.

Third fitting

At your third fitting you will see your dress in all its glory and tailored to fit you perfectly. This is the fitting where you really see difference and how far we have come with your alterations. your dress will be pressed and steamed ready for you to take away. Please allow up to 30 mins for this fitting.
